چکیده

This paper deals with the visual representation of negation involving particular propositions. The underlying consideration depends on the three basic desirable aspects of visual representation viz. simplicity, visual clarity and expressiveness [9]. For incorporation of constants in diagrams we discuss Venn-i (2004), Swoboda’s diagrams (2005) and Spider diagrams with constants (2005). We also discuss representation of negation in these diagrams. To depict negation in Venn-i the concept of absence is brought in from the conceptual schema of Indian philosophy. The advantage of Venn-i over spider diagram is discussed. The notion of absence naturally calls for the concept of an open universe. A brief discussion on open universe is presented at the end. Keywordssingular propositions, negation, absence, simplicity, open universe

Negations and aggregation operators based on a new hesitant fuzzy partial ordering

Based on a new hesitant fuzzy partial ordering proposed by Garmendia et al.~cite{GaCa:Pohfs}, in this paper a fuzzy disjunction ${D}$ on the set ${H}$ of finite and nonempty subsets of the unit interval and a t-conorm ${S}$ on the set $bar{{B}}$ of equivalence class on the set of finite bags of unit interval based on this partial ordering are introduced respectively. Then, hesitant fuzzy negati...

Shahid Rahman WAYS OF UNDERSTANDING HUGH MACCOLL’S CONCEPT OF SYMBOLIC EXISTENCE

Hugh MacColl (1837–1909) proposed, in several papers, a non-standard way of understanding the ontology underlying what we today call quantified propositions. His ideas, mixed with reflections about the use of arbitrary objects, were not greatly successful and were ruthlessly criticised by Bertrand Russell especially. The aim of this paper is to show that a thorough reading of MacColl’s general ...

A simple algorithm for solving the Volterra integral equation featuring a weakly singular kernel

There are many methods for numerical solutions of integral equations. In various branches of science and engineering, chemistry and biology, and physics applications integral equation is provided by many other authors. In this paper, a simple numerical method using a fuzzy, for the numerical solution of the integral equation with the weak singular kernel is provided. Finally, by providing three...

The Role of the Scholars` Tradition in Formulating Moral Propositions, with an Emphasis on Muhaqqiq Isfahani`s View

The issue of the source of ethical value is one of the most important issues in the field of metaethics. Moral philosophers have come up with different perspectives on this issue. Some Islamic thinkers, including Muhaqqiqi Isfahani, have considered the rationals` tradition as the formulating cause for moral propositions. This research is intended to emphasize on the viewpoint of Muhaqqiqi Isfah...
